The Leeds United Foundation have been showing their support for World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd socks throughout their sessions and encouraging their participants to also take part in the annual campaign.

World Down Syndrome Day takes places on the 21^st March every year, and it is a global awareness event which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The importance of the specific date chosen to raise awareness was based around the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21^st chromosome for people with Down syndrome.

To continue raising awareness and showing their support for people with Down syndrome, the club’s official charity will also be hosting their very own football session for children and young people who have Down syndrome on Saturday 29^th April. The exclusive session will be held from 2pm at John Smeaton Leisure Centre and they hope to have as many people as possible involved in the session.

Following the football session, youngsters and their families will then be invited down to Elland Road the next weekend on Saturday 6^th May, where they can enjoy some fun activities at the home of Leeds United, with special guest Lucas the Kop Cat also set to be in attendance. Please note that family members are invited to come along to both special occasions.
