Stuart Dallas surprises young fans at Soccer Camps

Midfielder spends time at Foundation summer course.

Stuart Dallas made a special guest appearance at a Leeds United Foundation Summer Soccer Camp recently with lots of excitable youngsters in attendance.

The successful summer camps are being delivered throughout the current school holidays across a number of different locations and there is set to be around 3,000 children taking part in the various camps across the six weeks.

The Northern Ireland international, who is continuing his recovery from an injury picked up last season, was eager to pay a visit to one of the sessions currently running with one of his own children actually attending the camps. During the appearance the 31-year-old spent time with the various age groups, answering questions and offering advice, before handing out some of the end of week awards and stopping for photos and autographs.

Dallas spoke to LUTV during the visit and said: “It’s great for kids to come here and be a part of this, it’s brilliant for them. I always look to when I was a kid and I always enjoyed going to summer camps and for them to be a part of the Leeds United ones it’s great for them and gives them a little taste of what it’s all about.

“There’s a lot of hard work and dedication that goes on from the coaches, my little lad is here this week and he’s really enjoyed it, I’ve been fortunate enough to drop him off and pick him up and I’ve been able to see what’s going on that I know a lot of people won’t see and the coaches deserve a lot of credit for the work that they put in.”

One of the participants who took part in the Leeds United Foundation summer camps for the week, said: "I’ve really enjoyed being here all week, I’ve learnt new skills, new techniques and new tactics on the ball and off the ball, and meeting Stuart Dallas today was an added bonus.”

Oliver Souter, a coach with the Leeds United Foundation, added: "It’s been amazing today, we’ve had 60 plus kids here over the last four days and they’ve come along with a real buzz, made lots of new friends, learnt about the Leeds values and they’ve had an amazing time which is how it should be during the summer holidays.

“It was tremendous having someone like Stuart coming down, it really gives them that added inspiration, Stuart has been a part of a local club and he went to summer camps over in Northern Ireland and he’s told the participants about that, which is really inspiring to show that progress from a grassroots level to him now playing for Leeds United. It’s been amazing to have him down and it really enhances those family values at the club.”

There are still several weeks left of the summer holidays, with sessions being delivered four days each week, from 9am to 3pm and they are available to both young boys and girls aged between 5 and 12, with all abilities welcome. The last sessions will be held on Friday 2nd September, and they are available at the following locations:
