Former Fit Fans participant to fundraise for Foundation

Supporter takes on London Marathon challenge.

An avid Leeds United supporter and former Fit Fans participant is currently undertaking training for the 2022 London Marathon, all in aid of the Leeds United Foundation.

Maz Ferguson joined the Foundation’s Fit Fans programme at the beginning of 2021 and hasn’t looked back since, receiving the right amount of support along with plenty of new knowledge that have made her confident to take on this exciting challenge all for charity and to support those who are most vulnerable in our city.

She said: “I did Fit Fans in 2021 and it gave me the information I needed about sports and nutrition to enable me to train efficiently for running longer distances.

“I started running during lockdown as a way to get healthy and with the support of Fit Fans this continued to progress, and I was able to run the Leeds Half Marathon in September 2021.

“I found that by being a part of Fit Fans I was confident in the choices I made in regards to nutrition and fuelling for longer runs. The support of the coaches and fellow participants was amazing and kept me really motivated.”

The London Marathon will take place on the 2nd of October 2022, and Maz is currently training for the challenge and hoping to raise as much money for the Foundation as possible.

She added: “The reason I chose the Leeds United Foundation to fundraise for is that as well as being a massive part in my marathon journey, they are also really involved in the wider community and offer support and services for many different groups.

“I would like to finish the marathon sub 5.5 hours, although I would be delighted with any time.”
