Dan James inspires youngsters during surprise visit

Foundation host special session with star.

Dan James made a special guest appearance at a recent Leeds United Foundation Soccer Camp with over 60 young children in attendance.

The successful soccer schools programme is delivered during each half-term holiday, with coaches from the club's official charity hosting fun sessions every day in a safe environment to help develop skills and boost confidence.

The Wales international was on hand at King James's School in Knaresborough for his visit, spending time with four separate age groups, and getting involved in small games with them all whilst also taking the time to answer some of their burning questions.

The Leeds United winger spoke to LUTV during the visit and said: "I loved surprising them all and seeing all of the smiles on their faces. It was really nice to join in with them, this was where it all started for me at camps like this, I used to be able to go along and enjoy them and I think most importantly you can make some great friends from attending.

"At this age you've just got to enjoy playing with your friends, I'm still friends with people now who I played in the same soccer schools as, so it's been great for me to come out and be a part of that today."

One of the participants who took part in the Leeds United Foundation camp at King James, said: "Dan James is one of my favourite players. I loved meeting him and playing football with him, and I even showed him some of my new skills that I'd learnt on camp."

Paul, Leeds United Foundation coach, added: "It's brilliant having a great player and role model like Dan James to come and visit the Soccer School. The participants were in absolute awe and meeting one of their heroes at the camp only helps to support our aspiring participants and young fans."

The Foundation staff delivered sessions to over 850 participants during Easter and they will be delivering their next set of Soccer Camps during the upcoming May half-term. Sessions will be held from Monday 30th May through to Wednesday 1st June. The sessions are delivered from 9am to 3pm, and are available for both boys and girls aged between 5 and 12, with all abilities welcome. Sessions will be available at the following locations:
