Foundation launch Coaches Club at Elland Road

Induction event hosted for new initiative.

The Leeds United Foundation recently launched a brand-new initiative to further educate, and support sports coaches based at the charity and throughout the local community.

To kick-off the new Coaches Club a special induction event was hosted at Elland Road on Thursday evening, with over 30 coaches in attendance and on hand to learn more about what the programme will cover and the opportunities it could create.

The main aim for the initiative is to provide education around coaching that align to the core set of values at the club and Foundation, whilst also creating opportunities for coaches within the community to get involved in the ever-expanding workload within the club’s official charity.

It is hoped that this new programme will create the following for registered coaches throughout Leeds:

a. A more professional body of sports coaches

b. A more sustainable workforce for the foundations coaching programmes

c. A more committed ‘expert’ of qualified staff on the front line

d. A more specialised approach to learning and delivery

e. A more ‘joined’ approach & opportunity for continued professional development

f.  A clearer pathway for opportunities to progress in the Foundation

One of the coaches that was in attendance at the induction evening, said: “This is a great way to see how the club and the Foundation operate, and it will be great to give us as coaches an insight into how a professional club works and I am looking forward to the other events in the future.”

The next Coaches Club event will be taking place on Thursday 17th February at Elland Road, from 6pm, and it is free for registered coaches to attend and learn more about.
