Foundation launch new Development Centres for young females

Programme set to launch in September 2021 at various locations.

The Leeds United Foundation are pleased to launch an exciting new programme as part of the Women & Girls set-up to begin in September 2021.

A number of new Development Centres will be created across various locations in Yorkshire, with the main aim of increasing participation in girls’ football – offering young females who are interested in playing the sport and developing their skills the opportunity to do so and be a part of the Leeds United Girls Pathway.

This programme has been designed to find and nurture talent from a young age within our region, providing a platform for the girls to perform at their best level after receiving first-class coaching and support.

The Development Centre programme is for females only, with one training session taking place each week with qualified coaches from the club’s official charity. For those that wish to continue playing football there will also be the opportunity to progress into the Girls Academy within the Foundation and the Shadow Squad.

Sessions will be based on individualised coaching, providing the opportunity for youngsters to improve not only their skills and technique but also confidence, covering all aspects of the game. This means that the sessions are training specific as opposed to including small games for the players to take part in – each player can therefore continue to play for a local grassroots team whilst training among the Leeds United Foundation Development Centres.

The centre launching near Leeds is based at Aspire @ The Park at Pontefract Racecourse (WF8 4RA) although there are also centres launching in Halifax, Harrogate, and Scarborough, if they are more suitable.

Sessions will begin on Friday 10th September, and they will continue every Friday from 7 to 8pm. Per individual the cost is just £20 per month. If you are interested in signing a young female up for the programme, please click here to register your details.
