Leeds United Foundation launch Fit Minds initiative

Health and wellbeing programme open to new members.

Leeds United Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of a new mental health and wellbeing programme to support individuals in the local community who are struggling and may be suffering with stress and anxiety.

Fit Minds is a free programme that will be delivered via online Zoom sessions for a period of 12-weeks by mental health professionals and highly qualified staff.

The aim of the hour-long sessions, held weekly, will be to support individuals who are struggling and need someone to talk to, with discussions being focused on a number of critical topics, such as anxiety coping techniques, stress relief methods and lifestyle changes that are beneficial for mental wellbeing.

Half of the sessions delivered are set to be wellbeing workshops, discussing those topics mentioned above along with anything else that can help and support, with the other half used as physical activity sessions that will be appropriate for all abilities and needs of members involved.

The new initiative will launch in April, with the first sessions to take place in just a few weeks and once the 12-week programme comes to an end there will be the option for participants to continue with either online or face-to-face exercise classes and sessions. There will also be an opportunity to receive further mental health support where needed to ensure the help, motivation and guidance is always available to those who need it.

Beth Kerrigan, the Health and Wellbeing Officer at the Leeds United Foundation, said: "Over the past year there has been a significant increase in people suffering with their mental health. Mental health has always been a very important matter and touches the lives of many. As a Foundation we would like to take a step forward to provide support to those in need and to help people with their overall mental wellbeing."
