Girls Academy delivery links up with Leeds Beckett University

RTC programme given access to fantastic facilities.

The Leeds United Foundation have continued to develop their relationship with Leeds Beckett University after being given permission to use the incredible new facilities located on site for their Girls Academy (RTC) programme.

The club’s official charity delivers a number of football initiatives specifically for young females and coaches from the Foundation are currently running the RTC programme from two sites, Sherburn High School and the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University.

Recently the Carnegie School of Sport has undergone a massive transformation with the creation of a state-of-the-art high-performance facility housed within their magnificent new building in the city centre.

The 45 m building that has been designed includes a wealth of outstanding facilities, all available to be used by the older age groups at the RTC – the Under-14s and Under-16s. This includes dedicated research laboratories, a hypoxic laboratory, a health and wellbeing studio, covered rooftop 60m sprint track for performance training and analysis, rooftop walking track and terrace, enhanced strength and conditioning spaces and changing and recovery facilities.

The facilities at Leeds Beckett will be used by various teams and staff members for specific workshops, monitoring and fitness testing sessions and educational sessions with the girls with the younger age groups also able to use the outdoor training facilities

The opportunity to be able to utilise the building and its facilities emphasises the fantastic relationship that has gone from strength to strength with the University. The Leeds United Foundation work hard to provide an elite level of training and performance for the girls’ football programmes that will help to progress the players for the next level of their development in the sport.

With the help and support of staff with special expertise at Leeds Beckett and Leeds United it will enable the youngsters to achieve their goals and for those that are currently on the England international pathway the extra support helps to create more holistic players.
