Foundation and SBOTOP launch new community initiative

Fit Generations programme to launch in December.

The Leeds United Foundation and official club partner SBOTOP have teamed up to launch a brand-new health and wellbeing initiative for our older generation of supporters.

Fit Generations will launch on Monday 14th December with weekly online social sessions being hosted by coaches from the club’s official charity until eventually, once it is safe to do so, they can take place at Elland Road face to face.

The programme has been created for those in the local community over the age of 60 and will be inclusive to anyone suffering with dementia or any other mental or physical disabilities.

Funded by SBOTOP, the new initiative will generate opportunities for participants, who may feel isolated in current circumstances, to socialise and reminisce whilst encouraging them to stay active and learn new skills.

Bill Mummery, Executive Director of SBOTOP, said: “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to support the Leeds United Foundation in this wellbeing initiative. It is imaginative and addresses an important need in the community, especially during these challenging times. I wish the club, its Foundation and supporters every success with Fit Generations.”

Each online session will last for 90 minutes, with one hour set aside for discussions and a variety of activities, including the chance for guest speakers from SBOTOP and other external organisations to join in with quizzes and skills workshops, and there will then be 30 minutes left for physical activities. All physical activity will be low impact and appropriate for all participants to take part in, to help ensure all members are taking care of their wellbeing.

Please note, once the sessions are able to be held at Elland Road, they will last for two hours with the chance for more interactive games and activities, including craft sessions.
