Leeds United Foundation launch Sporting Memories initiative

Leeds United Foundation launch Sporting Memories initiative

New programme to begin Wednesday 18th November.

The Leeds United Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of a brand-new health and well-being initiative for our older generation of supporters, Sporting Memories.

Sporting Memories will begin as a virtual project and will be used to help support elderly people in the local community with both their physical and mental wellbeing.

Starting on Wednesday 18th November, running from 1pm to 2.30pm, coaches from the club’s official charity will host a session on Zoom that will involve one hour of discussion - giving participants the chance to engage with each other, reminisce about past experiences and share their favourite Leeds United and sporting memories.

There will then be a 30 minute segment dedicated to increasing members physical activity levels. The exercises will be suitable for all involved in the session, using low impact and chair-based activities, which should hopefully help ensure they are all staying fit and healthy, especially during the current climate and the lockdown period where they have limited options available to them.

The sessions will take place once a week, with Foundation coaches keeping in regular contact with all participants from one session to the next, making sure they are receiving as much support as they need and hopefully decreasing the chances of people in older generations feeling neglected through what may be a very lonely time.
