Leeds United Foundation appoint new Chief Executive

John Mallalieu joins from the Bank Workers Charity

The Leeds United Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

John Mallalieu joins the club’s charitable arm from Monday 26th October 2020, bringing a wealth of experience in the charity sector as well as the public and private sector. Mr Mallalieu leaves his role as Chief Executive of the Bank Workers Charity, after three years in the role to take up the position at the Foundation.

Previously, John has held senior positions at health and social care charity, Turning Point for nearly a decade, as well as various non-executive roles within the NHS and Third Sector.

Leeds United Chief Executive, Angus Kinnear said: “We are thrilled John has joined the Leeds United Foundation at an exciting time for the charity. Ever since Andrea bought the club, we have increased our focus on the Foundation and enjoyed a successful few years, during which we feel we have re-engaged with the community.  John joins us with the experience needed to drive the charity to the next level and we welcome him to the family.  We look forward to seeing what the Foundation can deliver with him at the helm.”

Chair of the Leeds United Foundation, James Rogers added: “The Foundation is constantly looking for ways to deliver for the local community and we have experienced some real growth in recent times. I am sure that with John working together with the club and the people of Leeds on a full-time basis, we can do wonderful things for the city of Leeds during this incredibly difficult time and beyond. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Gary Waddington, Michael Kinsey and their team for all of the hard work they have done since taking the reins whilst we went through the recruitment process.”
