Leeds United Foundation support Child Friendly Leeds event

Free tickets are now available for Child Friendly Leeds Live, taking place on Wednesday 5th August.

Following the success of previous years, the children’s festival will return this year in an online exclusive. The event, live streamed for ticket holders, will feature Leeds based BoomChikkaBoom, Rainbow Factory, DAZL and others. The program will be hosted by CBBC star, Alex Winters.

The festival has developed from a winning idea from Leeds child who took part in a competition about making the city-centre more child friendly. For the last few years, the festival has been delivered on Millennium Square and has been a huge success. Due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 this year, the delivery team have had to find a creative solution to hosting the festival in the city centre.

As well as the program of live stream performances, the event will include a #GoOrange campaign. This will encourage people in Leeds to wear orange, find orange, make orange or even bake something orange. Prizes will be given to the best #GoOrange pictures shared on social media using the hashtag. The event takes place on National Play Day which is the national day for play in the UK and is a reflection of the CFL’s commitment to giving children and teenagers the freedom to play and enjoy everyday adventures.

The event will also be used to promote the Child Friendly Leeds fund; an important local initiative, managed by the Leeds Community Foundation. The fund will support vulnerable young people to acquire essential life skills, develop positive relationships with role models and help them to grow in confidence. More details and the crowdfunder will be set-up before the event.
