Food deliveries made across the city

Food delivery service continues to support those in need.

Leeds United joined up with His Church (HIS) last week as part of a new initiative to deliver essential food items to vulnerable families across Leeds in need of extra support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Food parcels were delivered throughout the week and weekend by staff from the Leeds United Foundation until all food items from the first lorryload that landed at Elland Road had gone.

Working closely with Leeds City Council on the emergency food response plan that is currently in operation across the city to support those who are struggling through this crisis, essential items were delivered to the South and East ‘Early Help Hubs’ including Cottingley Children’s Centre and Lincoln Fields Centre, a number of different local primary schools, our local charity Holbeck Together and the Good Neighbours Scheme in Cross Gates.

Hampers were also delivered to local hospitals for NHS staff who are working on the frontline every day to care and look after the people in our city.

Throughout the week, coaches at the Foundation were also able to meet immediate need from families by making personal deliveries of essential items through a contact-free method in line with government guidelines. Aside from distributing to hubs and organisations that would then distribute further, coaches were on hand to make door-to-door deliveries for those needing immediate access through a referral system in place at Cottingley Children’s Centre.

The club will now await the second lorryload of items from His Church with staff ready to continue distributing and supporting the most vulnerable people that have been heavily impacted during this tough period.

We are also supporting a fundraising campaign that has been called ‘United Together’ with our local charity Holbeck Together, based in the shadow of Elland Road, and we would be grateful to anyone that is able to make a small donation to help those in the local community that really need it.
