Spotlight on our work with Palm Cove Society

Foundation staff continue to support local organisation.

The Leeds United Foundation have developed a strong working relationship with Palm Cove Society throughout the last season helping to support vulnerable adults.

The local organisation, based in Leeds and Bradford, provide accommodation to many individuals on a daily basis, operating as a halfway house to give the ever increasing culturally diverse residents they support the opportunity to develop life skills and basic knowledge required for UK living.

Many of the individuals who are assisted by Palm Cove Society are vulnerable refugees and victims of human trafficking, modern slavery, forced marriage, honour-based violence or domestic abuse.

The coaches at the club’s official charity work with the non-for-profit charity on a weekly basis and currently support the female residents through active sessions once a week, this could be football, basketball, zorbing and many more sports and activities. They have also provided the women with tickets to attend matches at Elland Road, giving them the opportunity to create new memories and experiences.

There are also plans in place to expand the partnership to include support for male individuals using the services at Palm Cove Society, these will hopefully come into action once we have the go ahead following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Since the coronavirus pandemic the weekly active sessions have been put on hold, but the Leeds United Foundation are continuing to support the organisation through food deliveries to ensure that the vulnerable residents have access to essential items.
