United Together: Help support your local community

Fundraising campaign launched to help vulnerable people.

Leeds United are supporting a new campaign that has been created by local charity Holbeck Together to help support those most vulnerable during the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.

The fundraising campaign that has been entitled ‘United Together’ is now live and with every donation made we will be able to give extra support to people that have been heavily impacted by the outbreak in our local community.

Times are tough for a lot of people and it has been heart-breaking to see some people losing jobs, those who are vulnerable and at high risk unable to get access to essential items and youngsters who would usually be on free school meals struggling to find replacements.

Now is a time to pull together and help support these people whether they are in Holbeck, in the shadow of Elland Road, where there has been a huge increase in the number of people requiring extra support or those in the wider community.

Our friends at Holbeck Together deliver a Neighbourhood Network Scheme that provides a variety of services, activities and opportunities for people of all generations and they need the help of our loyal supporters to help raise some of these precious funds that will pay for hot meals, food and essential items during this period of uncertainty.

If everyone could give just £1 each, there will quickly be enough to help people who need it most through this difficult time.

The Chief Officer at Holbeck Together, Elissa Newman, said: “We are facing an unprecedented crisis and the number of requests for our services continues to rise. To ensure that we operate safely in these critical times we are adapting our services to support new social distancing guidelines. This means we need extra support in terms of volunteers, manpower and funds to deliver services for the most vulnerable people living in Leeds. We’ve had fantastic support so far from local people and businesses, but as this crisis continues, we need more help.

“We hope our small ask of just £1 sits comfortably with people and we hope that we can raise as much money as possible to support those most in need at this time. I am overwhelmed by the compassion of Angus and the team at Leeds United. The support they are providing to their local community will enable Holbeck Together to continue to meet the increased demand for additional front-line social care.

“It can only be a collective effort that will enable us to meet the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis and the ongoing support of Leeds United makes a big difference.”

Angus Kinnear, CEO at Leeds United, added: “It is so important that during this time we really pull together and help those that have been severely impacted by the coronavirus outbreak and that is exactly what this campaign is all about.

“If anyone who is able to can help to support Holbeck Together then together we will be able to keep food on people’s tables and look after those who are most vulnerable and high risk and may be unable to leave their homes for a long period of time. Remember to stay home and help to save lives.”
