First team switch on Leeds Lights

Players in attendance at annual Christmas lights event in city centre.

The Leeds United squad were some of the special guests invited to attend the annual Leeds Lights switch-on event on Thursday night, with Kalvin Phillips on hand to pull the lever and light up the city.

The first-team players were the final guests to take to the stage on the night, as they were greeted by a crowd of around 20,000 people singing Marching On Together, and they were joined by players from the Leeds United Women team, Elisha Hardcastle and Milly Ash, as well as Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear and Director of Football Victor Orta.

During their time on stage the hosts for the night, Radio Aire breakfast presenters Ant and Katy, quizzed Kalvin Phillips, Pablo Hernandez and Tyler Roberts on life at Leeds United, discussing the 2019/20 campaign so far and the club's extra-special centenary year.

Earlier in the evening visitors were treated to plenty of other entertainment including performances from former X Factor winners Rak-Su and popular Opera pioneers G4, along with other local artists.

The Leeds Light switch-on marks the official start of the city's 'Make it Leeds' this Christmas campaign which will feature a number of special events and activities including the Christkindelmarkt on Millennium Square which starts on Friday 8th November.
