Items required to support Foodbank initiative

Foodbank in action two hours ahead of kick-off at Elland Road on Saturday.

The Leeds United Foodbank will be in action at Elland Road ahead of our fixture against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, from 1pm.

Hosted by the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust, the foodbank initiative will be back for the entire 2019/20 campaign, and the items donated by our supporters will help to support two local foodbanks and hundreds of families throughout Leeds.

The club will once again support the community project throughout the season, encouraging fans to donate food or cash where possible ahead of every home match at Elland Road.

The food drive is located close to Bremner Square and the official Leeds United Store based outside the stadium, giving fans and local residents the chance to give any emergency food items they can.

Some of the items that have been requested, include; tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, long-life fruit juice, long-life milk, coffee, custard and pasta sauce.

The food must still be in date and still good to eat and the food donated will then provide three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food to support local people that have been referred to the foodbanks in crisis.

The two local foodbanks the club are working with are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by The Trussell Trust.

If anyone is interested in volunteering on a matchday or at one of the local foodbanks, please contact info@leedsnorthandwest.foodbank.org.uk or info@leedssouthandeast.foodbank.org.uk if you are interested.
