FA Young Leaders Award 2019

FA Young Leaders Award 2019

Foundation participants complete programme with the Prince's Trust.

The Leeds United Foundation recently hosted a week of activity with youngsters at Elland Road as part of the Prince’s Trust initiative.

Taking place in the Jack Charlton Suite, the young candidates in attendance all completed the FA Young Leaders Award, with the sessions happening every day from Monday 19th August to Friday 23rd August.

During the week-long programme the young students learnt about a number of key areas to do with coaching, the subjects the participants were taught about included; the fundamentals of physical literacy, the STEP principle which is part of the coaches tool and refereeing. They were also set a number of different tasks to complete together including planning a session, managing a team and organising different types of events.

A celebration event was held on the final day of the programme giving the youngsters a chance to share all of their experiences, look back on what they had learnt during the week and talk about what their hopes were for the future.

The programme also includes a reunion day which will take place on Tuesday 3rd September where coaches will focus discussions around future pathways and next steps. The reunion event will also hopefully give the candidates the best opportunity to progress onto their FA Level One Coaching Certificate.

Congratulations to all of the staff involved and to all of the participants for completing the FA Young Leaders Award.
