Midfield star pays a visit to local school with Leeds United Foundation

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips joined Leeds United Foundation staff at Whitkirk Primary School recently as part of the work they do on the Premier League Primary Stars initiative.

The midfielder visited some of the students ahead of their SAT exams and discussed with them the importance of working hard, never giving up and believing in yourself always before having photos with the youngsters and signing autographs.

The visit was arranged through the club’s official charity to support an assembly being delivered at the school all around the topic of resilience.

Premier League Primary Stars is an initiative that uses the power of sport to connect pupils' learning to the world around them, using fun and inspirational ways of engaging youngsters in education.

The Lead Project Officer for the Foundation, Tom McStravick, said: “The partnerships we have with local schools are vitally important for us to promote the work Leeds United do in inspiring children to learn and enjoy their time in school.

“The children couldn’t believe it when Kalvin walked into their classrooms. The staff at the school were also very excited and Kalvin was great with the kids, signing autographs and posing for pictures with all of them.”

PE co-ordinator, Pavitar Gill, from Whitkirk Primary School, added: “The children were super excited and the buzz around the school was amazing during the visit. The children were still talking about it the next day and we all felt very privileged to have Kalvin visit our school and especially with him visiting the different classrooms.”

The Leeds United Foundation would like to thank Whitkirk Primary School for their ongoing support. If you would like to find out more information about the Premier League Primary Stars programme then please email Nigel.Thewlis@leedsunited.com.
