Duo make surprise visit to Intensive Care Unit

Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich visit Leeds Children's Hospital.

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit based at Leeds Children's Hospital received a special surprise visit from two Leeds United stars recently as they helped to put some smiles on the faces of families going through the toughest of times.

Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich spent an entire afternoon at the hospital along with charity partner Children's Heart Surgery Fund, meeting young patients, including new-born babies, their families and the dedicated staff that work around-the-clock on the ward. They gave out some special Leeds United goodies, signed autographs for the nursing staff and had photos with those who wanted them.

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) looks after a lot of the heart patients that are supported by Children's Heart Surgery Fund as this is where they receive specialised one-on-one treatment as soon as they've had their surgery - some families can spend weeks, even months, on the ward.

The season-long campaign with the local charity will help to raise much-needed awareness and funds for the life-saving equipment needed on PICU, not just for young heart patients and babies but for other children that need life-saving surgery.

The equipment currently needed includes a super life-support machine and a new dialysis machine.

If you are able to donate to the campaign, please visit JustGiving.com/All-Leeds-All-Heart, here. A big thank you to all those who have donated to the campaign so far.
