Charity single to help raise vital funds

Money raised from charity single will be donated to Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and Children's Heart Surgery Fund.

The team at Phat Chants have created their latest parody-charity-single that will raise money for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.

Pigeon Detectives lead singer Matt Bowman and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Micky P Kerr are part of the team looking to raise money for the charities with their unique Leeds United themed take on the Elton John classic ‘Rocket Man’.

Bowman and Kerr, along with their fellow podcasters Tom Ross, Paul Thomas and Nipper, run the bi-weekly podcast ‘Phat Chants’ and are supporting the two charities with the release of the single on Saturday 4th May 2019.

Proceeds raised from the sale of ‘Bucket Man’ will be donated to Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, a local West Yorkshire charity which supports children living with life shortening conditions and their families and Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in Leeds, the official charity partner for Leeds United Football Club.

This will be the second song which the Phat Chants team has released, with their single ‘Bielsa Rhapsody’ (a parody of the Queen 1970’s hit ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’) having reached Number 5 in the iTunes chart in December 2018, going on to raise over £2,500.

Micky P Kerr of Phat Chants said: “We had a fantastic time recording ‘Bielsa Rhapsody’ at Christmas and it was such a buzz to see it storming up the iTunes chart on day one!

“We visited Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice earlier this year and saw what an absolutely amazing cause it really is and would love to see ‘Bucket Man’ climb the charts as high as possible to support these special families.”

Ryan Grint, regional fundraiser for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, added: “When the Phat Chants team told us about their plans with ‘Bielsa Rhapsody’ everyone at the charity loved their passion and enthusiasm for the cause and we know ‘Bucket Man’ has the potential to be a huge hit.”

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports over 650 local children and families across West Yorkshire both at its hospice, Russell House, located in Huddersfield and through its hospice at home service.
