Special guests from Children\'s Heart Surgery Fund

Young patients attend fixture against Aston Villa at Elland Road.

Children's Heart Surgery Fund, the club's Charity Partner of the Year, had two very special guests in attendance at Elland Road on Sunday for the Sky Bet Championship fixture against Aston Villa.

Two young patients, four-year-old Adam, who was accompanied by mum and dad - Sarah and Mark, and 25-year-old Tom, a Leeds United Season Ticket Holder, were both invited to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime matchday experience, meeting all of the first-team players ahead of kick-off.

Adam had his second open heart surgery just eight weeks ago at Leeds Children's Hospital after being diagnosed with truncus arteriosus and ventricular septal defect during pregnancy which has caused heart failure and complications with arrhythmias, whilst Tom has had a total of four open heart procedures to date due to a very serious ongoing heart condition, having also had a pacemaker fitted early on in his life.

Adam's dad is a massive Leeds United supporter and due to the club's relationship with the Leeds-based charity he was able to bring his son to his first ever game at Elland Road with the chance to meet their heroes.

Tom has supported the Whites for as long as he can remember and his love for the club has helped him get through some of the toughest times he's had to face, meeting his favourite player, Kemar Roofe, he said was something he'll never forget.

The season-long campaign with the local charity that supports youngsters, just like Adam and Tom, all with different stories regarding their experience with congenital heart disease has been raising much-needed funds to purchase life-saving equipment for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The club has worked hard to provide as many special memories for the young patients and families Children's Heart Surgery work with but we need help from all of our fans to keep raising as much money for the charity as possible.
