Club's charity invite special guests to attend the Sheffield Wednesday fixture.

Saturday's Yorkshire derby played host to a very special group of pupils from Corpus Christi Catholic College who have all utilised the power of football to improve their behaviour, attainment and attendance within school.

The group of 11 youngsters are part of a programme in the Halton Moor area which is an extension of the Premier League Kicks initiative. Within the programme they are tasked with improving their lesson grades with the incentive of achieving special prizes courtesy of the club.

This trip to Elland Road was one of those incentives with one student, Kenan, receiving an extra-special reward to meet the first-team players because of the significant progress that has been made with his school work and attitude.

As part of the programme students have also been supported with early morning football sessions and core subject interventions.

The initiative is spearheaded by Student Progress Leader for Year 8 at the school, Mrs Pollock, and Head of Year Mr Carey and is also supported by the Leeds United Foundation.

The project is only possible due to the funds granted by Leeds City Council Communities Committee, Veolia and The Outer South East Housing Advisory Panel as part of an in-depth holistic and individual program of work with young people in Halton Moor.

Alongside the work taking place within local schools, the delivery during community time has expanded with open access sporting sessions available from Monday through to Sunday. For more information on this initiative please contact joe.scargill@leedsunited.com.

A big well done to Curtis, Owen, Reggie, Kenan, Andrew, Kian, Mckenzie, Victor, Mark, Harley and Aiden for all of their hard work so far this year.
