FOUNDATION SUPPORT WORLD BOOK DAY

Activities to celebrate annual awareness campaign World Book Day.

Leeds United will be celebrating everything to do with books and reading today as a part of the celebrations for World Book Day with activities delivered across schools in Leeds by our Foundation coaches.

The national event helps to promote reading with youngsters across the country and staff from the club's official charity have been delivering special Premier League Primary Stars sessions at the schools they have been working in this week to help mark the occasion.

Activity for the annual campaign began ahead of our Sky Bet Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion with an exclusive book stand set-up in the East Stand Concourse and free book vouchers given out to families as well, kindly donated by WHSmiths to be used in store.

The club's resident matchday facepainters were also on hand to take part in the festivities, all dressed as some of your favourite book characters, including the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat.

All of the activity for World Book Day is to help engage young children more in the art of reading, make them excited to pick up a book and read and encourage them to do it more often.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme was launched to support schools and their teachers with student engagement levels in general, inspiring youngsters to learn, be active and develop important life skills through the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs.
