KICKS PROGRAMME SUCCESS

Foundation invite youngsters to attend Bolton Wanderers fixture at Elland Road.

Leeds United Foundation have invited a special group of youngsters to attend the Sky Bet Championship fixture against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

The youngsters are part of a nationwide Premier League Kicks programme funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund. The project is delivered and supported by Leeds United Foundation coaches across areas of Leeds with organisations such as Housing Leeds and Yorkshire Sport Foundation – offering free sporting activities in a safe and secure environment.

Premier League Kicks is a flagship community programme that uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people in some of the most high-need areas in England, deterring them from anti-social behaviour with opportunities to not only enjoy a kickabout with other youngsters but also develop socially and personally.

Supported by the Temple Newsam Education Cluster, Behaviour and Learning Officers deliver a scheme of work in Leeds designed to focus on the five core values of the club’s official charity; pride, graft, family, ambition and innovation.

A rewards and points system is also in place as part of the programme to incentivise young people to work towards a set of goals, including; medals, certificates, t-shirts and tickets to a Leeds United match.

The programme has gone from strength to strength in the Halton Moor area in particularly, with attendances and engagement rates doubling since the project was launched back in October 2018.  Funded by Veolia, LCC Communities Committee and the Outer South East Housing Advisory Panel, the Halton Moor sessions have expanded from one day a week to seven days a week of inclusive sporting activity – Monday through to Sunday.

The group in attendance at tomorrow's game have all completed at least 35 tasks on the programme, which include various activities both in and outside of school – well done to Leo, Craig, Ben, Lenai, Darren, Kyle and Archie for all of their hard work so far. A special mention to Leo who has gone above and beyond, completing 60 tasks, and therefore being treated to an exclusive experience by the club as reward.
