NCS PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTED

NCS PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTED

Leeds United Foundation invite NCS participants to enjoy matchday.

National Citizen Service (NCS) graduates will enjoy a special matchday experience at the Norwich City fixture as part of a unique awareness-raising campaign organised by Leeds United Foundation.

The young group of lucky Leeds United fans - who all spent their school holidays meeting new people, learning new skills and giving back to their community through the NCS programme - will be attending the game as special guests of the club and its official charity and will be invited pitchside to have photos with the club’s official photographer.

The event, supported by Leeds United and the Foundation will be part of a wider EFL Trust campaign that sees NCS Match Day reach over 30 EFL and Premier League clubs across the country, highlighting the positive work that young people have done in their local community.

NCS is a flagship government initiative that provides young people aged 16-17 the chance to take on new challenges, experience exciting activities, make long-lasting friendships and develop vital skills that will support them later in life. Supporting young people’s transition to adulthood, the programme develops their strength of character, giving a sense of purpose, optimism and belonging.

There will be over 420 young people from North Kirklees taking part in the NCS programme with Leeds United Foundation during summer 2019 and the programme will commence with an adventure week, where participants will travel to Wales or the Peak District.

The young people will also deliver social action projects during the four-week programme, where they will help to raise awareness and fundraise for organisations to make a difference in their local community.

Almost 500,000 young people have completed the NCS programme to date, giving up an incredible 12 million hours to social action projects since NCS started.
