LEEDS UNITED STARS PAY FESTIVE VISIT TO LGI

First-team players make annual Christmas visit to local hospital.

Leeds United’s first-team squad delivered festive cheer to Leeds General Infirmary on Friday afternoon when the players made their annual Christmas visit to a number of the children's wards at the hospital.

The players visited children and their parents on a number of busy wards including the Surgical Ward, Orthopaedic Ward and Congenital Heart Ward.

They spent time handing out a variety of Leeds United goodies, including calendars, teddy bears and special sweets as well as chatting to patients and their families, helping to lift the spirits of those who are set to spend the festive period in hospital.

Adam Forshaw, who plays an ambassadorial role for the club’s Charity of the Year campaign on behalf of the first team squad pays regular visits to the hospital and spoke to LUTV about the annual festive visit, he said: “It’s my first year doing the Christmas visit with the club but I know it’s something all the players look forward to being a part of, it’s really humbling and makes you feel privileged that you can make people smile.

"It is really nice to come and see not only the kids and their families but the amazing staff, too.

“Everyone wants to be happy around Christmas time especially, to be at home with their loved ones and some people aren’t fortunate enough to be able to do that so we try to make it a little bit more special for them and let them know we are thinking about them.

"You do take inspiration from visits like this and it puts things into perspective.

"It makes you realise how lucky you are in the position you are in.”
