U23S ATTEND SPECIAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

Children's Heart Surgery Fund annual Christmas party.

Leeds United's Charity of the Year, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, held a Christmas party recently for over 250 youngsters who have been affected by a heart condition.

Invited to attend the special occasion at The Royal Armouries in the centre of Leeds were some of the Leeds United Under-23 squad along with members of their coaching staff. Those in attendance at the event included; Callum Nicell, Matthew Downing, Alex Wollerton, Sam Dalby, Bobby Kamwa and Jordan Stevens.

On arrival the six players were introduced to those in attendance on-stage by the event host, answering questions from some of the kids enjoying the celebrations before getting involved in some of the activities taking place at the party.

They were on-hand to have photos with the young heart heroes and their families, whilst also helped with the Toy Tombola, the bake sale, bucket collecting and the arts and crafts corner where they spent time with some of the children decorating Christmas cards and making festive bracelets.

Before leaving they were asked to go back on stage for a special kick-up challenge showing off some of their football skills – with Jordan Stevens coming out on top.

Under-23 full-back Matthew Downing spoke about the event and said: “It’s been great for us all to come along today, we don’t get chance to do things like this very often with our training and match schedule but it’s been fun spending time with the kids, especially given how much they’ve all been through - to see them having fun and laughing was brilliant.

"It’s great that the club can help raise awareness about the work Children’s Heart Surgery Fund do to support these families and many more.”
