FOUNDATION TAKE ON SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

Participants from Kicks and PL4 Girls take part in special fixture.

The Leeds United Foundation organised for participants from their Kicks and PL4 Girls programmes to take part in a special fixture against a fellow Championship team recently.

To reward some of the youngsters for the commitment they have shown to both the Kicks and PL4 Girls projects, coaches from the club’s official charity arranged for them to travel to Sheffield to take part in a friendly fixture with Sheffield Wednesday – with Leeds United coming out on top in the match that took place at Parkwood Academy.

Richard Foye, a PL Kicks coach from the Leeds United Foundation, spoke about the trip and said: “It was really great to see two cities united together through football. The young players were able to develop teamwork, leadership and social skills in a setting they had never been in before.”

Paul Hebda, the PL Kicks coordinator for Sheffield Wednesday, added: “The attitude and respect shown from the boys and girls from the Leeds United Foundation was nothing short of fantastic, and the support from the staff made the whole day go very smoothly and overall very successful.”

The trip also included a tour of Hillsborough Stadium, tickets to watch the Sheffield Wednesday fixture against Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship and food provided by The Real Junk Food Project.

The young people in attendance were all aged 11-14 and were from the Saxton Gardens Kicks project and the PL4 Girls group that attend sessions at Cardinal Heenan.
