COMMEMORATING ARMISTICE DAY

COMMEMORATING ARMISTICE DAY

Special visit for family at Thorp Arch ahead of Remembrance Day.

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday a family from Doncaster were able to enjoy a special day out at Thorp Arch in honour of their dad, who was a serviceman with The Light Dragoons.

Scott Plant, a huge Leeds United supporter, recently sent a letter to the club on behalf of his family - partner Samantha and her three children Jayden, Jamie and Amelia.

Samantha’s husband Sgt Lee Davidson was sadly killed on duty in Afghanistan six years ago and Scott was hoping to surprise them all with a special Leeds United poppy shirt in memory of their dad that they all lost.

The club instead invited the whole family to spend the day at the Leeds United training ground, giving them the chance to create a special memory together in remembrance of their dad, with the opportunity to meet some of their footballing heroes and take away some special mementos.

Favourites Kemar Roofe and Luke Ayling were on-hand to spend some time with the family, giving them a full-squad signed 'Davidson' shirt with forward Roofe also giving them a pair of signed boots. They also met other members of the first-team squad including goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Kalvin Phillips, Adam Forshaw and captain Liam Cooper with Gjanni Alisoki having a kick-about with the family on the indoor pitch.

Scott Plant spoke to LUTV during their visit and said: "Six years ago Samantha lost her partner in Afghanistan and their three children are big Leeds fans so I contacted the club regarding that and the poppy shirts and the club were in touch and said they wanted to do something for them.

"It was a fantastic gesture, the chance for them to meet some of their idols, we can't thank the club enough."

Leeds United Football Club would like to pay tribute and say thank you to all of the servicemen and women, past and present, who have fought for our country.

And to all of the families who have a lost a loved one, just like the Davidson family, we salute your bravery through all of the hard times and we stand together with you.

We will remember.
