EDMONDSON VISITS SOCCER SCHOOL

Young star offers tips at local football session.

Ryan Edmondson paid a visit to one of the half-term Leeds United Foundation Soccer Schools being funded by club partner Utilita.

The young striker was on-hand at the session taking place at Meadowfield Primary School to give the youngsters some tips on taking penalties and some advice around what is best to eat to become a professional sports person.

On arrival at the half-term course the 17-year-old was introduced to the group of children before watching them carry out a penalty shoot-out, Edmondson then chatted to them and gave them some advice on how they could improve their shot-taking technique. They then went indoors to discuss a booklet, provided by Utilita, which looked at kinetic energy, what fuels a footballer and how best to look after yourself with regards to staying healthy, eating the right things and exercising.

The young Leeds United star spoke about the visit and said: “I’ve really enjoyed being here today, having the chance to meet the kids and being able to offer them some advice was great and hopefully they’ll have taken some of it on board.

“These Soccer Schools are great for kids at half-term, keeping them busy and outdoors as much as possible.

"It was especially good to see the work they were doing to support the coaching sessions, learning about being healthy and what food to eat because that’s so important if you want to play sport professionally.”

The Leeds United Foundation hold Soccer Schools throughout half-term holidays at various venues across Yorkshire.

The courses are rewarding, educational and fun and they are available to children from 5 to 12 years of age, of any background and with any skill level.

All of the sessions are fully supervised and delivered by FA qualified coaches, who are DBS checked as well as first aid trained. There are boys, girls and mixed classes available.

The next Soccer Schools will take place during February 2019 half-term. For more information please call Leeds United Foundation on 0113 367 6307.
