The students aged 16-19, study on BTEC courses at the Foundation’s Education Programme and as part of their coursework were able to meet and talk to Whites player Jay-Roy Grott.

Students prepared questions for Grott and asked him about a variation of things including about his training schedule, nutrition plan and about his inspirations.

The 19-year-old also posed for photos with the students and took time to give them advice on not only becoming a footballer but also tips on achieving their goals and aspirations.

The youngsters study on the BTEC courses which are available to those who are near completion of their GCSE’s and offer a comprehensive programme of practical sport, theoretical study and opportunities for sports coaching and business management.

The courses available include the BTEC Level One Diploma in Sport, BTEC Level Two Extended Certificate in Sport and the BTEC Level Three Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity.

After completion, students can then either progress on to the Foundation’s Degree course, other Further Education or pathways into sport.

Nigel Thewlis, Education Manager at the Foundation, said: “We would all like to say thank you to Jay-Roy for visiting us today.

“It’s great for our students to meet professional players and to get an insight into their lives and how they got to where they are.

“Jay-Roy is a fantastic role model for our students as well as he is a similar age to them. He gave some great answers to the student’s questions and gave some great advice.

Nigel added: “We are now recruiting students for next year’s course and we are encouraging anybody who is interested in applying to get in contact as soon as possible. “

The courses are open to 16 and 17 year olds and are currently recruiting for September 2018.
