SISTER DUO ATTEND ELITE FOUNDATION SESSIONS

Sisters Izzy and Lois enjoy Foundation girls sessions..

Since attending a Foundation led holiday football course, sister duo Izzy and Lois have been enjoying playing football for the Foundation’s higher level teams and programmes.

Izzy, aged nine, attended the Foundation’s holiday course which is jointly ran with Network Rail. The course was held at Temple Moore High and introduced Izzy to football skills and play as well as Network Rail being on hand to raise awareness around track safety and awareness.

She was then recommended to attend the Foundation’s ‘FA Wildcats Programme’ which aims to increase girl’s participation within football. From there, Izzy then successfully passed trials for the Foundation’s Regional Talent Centre Under 10s and not only trains to a high standard but takes part in games in a Junior League.

Izzy’s younger sister Lois, aged just five, also plays for the Foundation’s Junior Under 7s side. The Under 7s team focuses on increasing participation and provides sessions for all abilities.

Before joining the Wildcats and Foundation RTC, Izzy had not met another girl who plays football so it has been an important part in her development and a good way to make friends.

The sister's mum, Charlotte, said: “Izzy only started playing football in September 2016 so to see how much she is progressing each week and having this opportunity is actually pretty amazing – she’s set her sights high and is determined one day she will play for England!

“I am so happy both my daughters are able to play for a team that values team work so much and it is a great place for them to play and progress.

Izzy added: “I’ve really enjoyed meeting other girls who love football as much as I do and being a part of Leeds United makes me really proud.”
