Foundation girls Under 7s make football debut..
The Leeds United Foundation girls Junior Football Club (JFC) Under 7s have taken part in their very first regional football gala and have had the chance to showcase their skills in a competitive setting.
Organised by the West Riding Girls Football League, the monthly events are in place to increase football participation, give experience of competitive play and showcase skills.
Based at Sherburn High School, the newly formed Leeds United Foundation Junior Football Club, works with local girls from the Sherburn area to support girls football for all abilities and works with girls under the age of seven to learn key football skills and drills.
Coached by fully qualified Leeds United Foundation coaches, the players get to train on excellent facilities and works with surrounding schools to increase girls participation in the area.
Gary Waddington, Development Manager at Leeds United Foundation, said: “We are really excited that one of our junior teams have made their team debut this weekend and it was great to see the team bond outside of training and show off their skills.
“We operate a comprehensive girls training programme at the Foundation and the new Under 7s team is an example on how committed we are to providing coaching to all age groups and abilities. We would like to thank the West Riding Girls League for organising the gala and we look forward to being a part of the partnership moving forward.”
