ACADEMY GIRLS SELECTED FOR FA CAMP

Leeds United RTC players qualify for FA camp..

Four young players from the Leeds United girl’s academy squad have been selected to attend the FA regional development camp as part of the England Talent Pathway and will now get the chance to learn skills, training techniques and theoretical knowledge from top FA coaches.

Players Olivia and Laura who play for the Leeds United girls Under 14s and Lois and Anna for the Under 16s have been selected for the camp and will be provided with technical, physiological and theoretical support to help with their development.

The weekend residential camp will be run by FA staff and players and will be monitored by FA talent reporters in a bid to progress to the next step within the England training pathway.

The girls play for the Leeds United Regional Talent Club (RTC) which aims to support the development of talented young female players by creating a tailored team training programme that develops the players to work towards the highest levels of football for both club and country.

Gary Waddington, Development Officer at the Foundation, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the girls and I am so pleased to see them qualify for the camp. It will be a fantastic experience for them.

The weekend will test girls football skills at a high level and also give them more information around nutrition and the theoretical side of the game. Well done!”

As part of the Leeds United RTC programme players train six hours per week including strength and conditioning, sports psychology and nutrition/lifestyle support. The U14s and U16s play in the FA Girls England Talent Pathway Tier 1 league which includes Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, whilst the U10s and 12s play against boy’s teams in the Garforth league.
