Foundation joins recruiter in employment initiative..

The Leeds United Foundation and Blue Apple Training are working together to create opportunities for unemployed people across the city.

Blue Apple, who help people make the transition from welfare to work, are supporting the Leeds United Foundation in building a workforce for the future by engaging people of all ages who are interested in returning to work or obtaining a first job.

The new project will include employability skills courses, training programmes and employer links to help unemployed people develop the essential skills and attributes required by employers.

The collaboration kicks off with an employment awareness event at Elland Road on 23 November, 11am till 1pm. The event will enable attendees to find out more about the partnership, what help and support will be available, as well meeting local employers that are recruiting.

Alan Scorfield, Chief Executive of The Leeds United Foundation, has the collaboration at the centre of a long term employability plan.

Alan said: “With all of the developments planned to happen around the stadium, and in South Leeds generally over the next few years, there will be a need for a skilled and highly attuned workforce.

“This collaboration is the start of a workforce development plan which will see local people gaining the skills and qualities prized by employers, including Leeds United, to meet this need. We are keen to be part of that development and support our local community.”

Mike Gore, Director at Blue Apple, added: "As a Leeds United fan this is both an exciting and fantastic opportunity to work with the Leeds United Foundation and to really make a difference to people's lives.

“Our experience and expertise in helping people get back to work and our ever expanding list of employers with whom we work in partnership, along with the incredible brand of Leeds United, can really make a huge impact on individuals’ lives and have a real positive impact on the local communities within the Leeds City Region.”
