Contract Type: Casual Contract

Hours of Work: Approx. 5/6 hours at Home Games

Responsible to:  Head of Matchday Safety & Security

Location: Elland Road Stadium, Elland Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS11 0ES

Aim of Role: The Matchday Wellbeing Support Supervisor will have responsibility for all safeguarding and welfare matters for anyone visiting the stadium on matchdays. 

They will manage a small team of Matchday Wellbeing & Support Officers and ensure they respond effectively and with empathy to all safeguarding concerns and apply our safeguarding policy and procedure and Equality Policy to safeguard all children and adults at risk. 

To promote a positive safeguarding culture across the matchday team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To attend all home matches and ensure relevant support or assistance for children, young people and adults at risk is given where necessary.  
  • To attend the steward’s pre-match briefing prior to each home game to meet and liaise with all Stand Supervisors & Managers to discuss any special requirements needed for children, young people and adults at risk supporters throughout the day. 
  • To arrange a pre and post-match briefing with the Wellbeing Support Officers for each match.
  • To manage the Wellbeing Support team on matchdays and ensure they communicate effectively to ensure the matchday experience is enjoyable and safe for our more vulnerable groups of supporters.
  • To take a proactive approach to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk to ensure all Matchday staff and volunteers understand their role in safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk.
  • Report and record safeguarding and/or poor practice concerns in line with the Club Safeguarding Policy
  • Use MyConcern to log safeguarding reports and actions
  • Assist the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Ticketing & Matchday to identify safeguarding training needs of matchday staff that would enhance our safeguarding practice.
  • To provide support and guidance to the Wellbeing Support Officers and Disabled Liaison Officer on matchdays
  • To work effectively with the Head of Safeguarding and EDI to ensure the safeguarding and equality policies are delivered on a matchday.
  • To report any breaches of these policies to the Head of Matchday Safety and Security and Head of Safeguarding & EDI
  • To undertake internal or external training as required for the role

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Having attended safeguarding training and/or relevant experience in a safeguarding, or welfare role.
  • FA children safeguarding certificate
  • FA welfare officer certificate
  • A child-centred approach
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience of applying safeguarding policy and procedures
  • Experience of working with adults at risk
  • Ability to case manage safeguarding concerns through to conclusion
