Special guests welcomed to Elland Road

Special guests welcomed to Elland Road

World-renowned bagpipe player to perform.

Leeds United Football Club face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League this afternoon, and as it is our closest home fixture to Armistice Day there will be a range of activities to honour those who have served our country.

The club will be joined by a number of special guests as we pay our respects at Elland Road, and there will be a special performance from one of the most gifted bagpipers in the world ahead of kick-off.

Stuart Liddell is a huge Leeds United supporter, and to help us mark Remembrance Day he has been practicing something special to perform to the Elland Road crowd.

Stuart has been recognised all over the world for his incredible ability, winning various awards and he also composed Diu Regnare which was played by over four thousand pipers to honour the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty this June.

We will also be joined by the City of Leeds Pipe Band and they will be performing outside the ground and inside the stadium bowl. The City of Leeds Pipe Band were founded in 1960 and they previously played at Elland Road back in 1972 when they saw Leeds United return from Wembley with the FA Cup.

Representatives from the Parachute Regiment, Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, the British Army, Falklands Veterans and the Yorkshire Regiment will also be in attendance today, among others, and we offer them a warm welcome as part of our tributes to the armed forces.
