ABOUT THE ROLE

The Academy Education Support Officer is responsible for supporting and coordinating the education plan to players on the full-time, hybrid and part-time training models to ensure a first-class player experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: EDUCATION

Lead on the implementation of the “day release” programme for players on the hybrid training model

Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure signed data sharing agreements exist for every player at U9 – U16

Liaise with key stakeholders to develop home-school-club agreements for all players on the hybrid training model and ensuring their effective delivery

Ensure the programme is delivered in line with youth development regulations and PL Education requirements

Oversee the delivery of effective tracking and monitoring of education progression of players on the hybrid and part-time training models

Identifying risk and designing and delivering interventions to support/prioritise the education progression of players on the hybrid and part-time training models

Oversee the development of meaningful individual learning plans for players on the hybrid and part-time training models

Maintaining open and effective lines of communication with parents, schools and staff on the progression and availability of players on the hybrid model

Liaising with the operations department to ensure the hybrid model transport programme is planned and delivered efficiently and effectively

Support the delivery of the full-time education model, as required

Provide support on the delivery of all Academy education activity, as required

Provide cover for the PDP Education provision, as required

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: PLAYER CARE

Support to the delivery of the Academy player care strategy and the holistic development programme (life skills) to players and stakeholders in all phases

Support the maintenance of the accommodation programme, as required

OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS

Maintaining education facilities and resources to deliver a first class education and development environment

Ensuring the department delivers a first class player, parent and staff experience

Prioritising the Academy’s duty of care to players and ensuring best practice at all levels of the department

Working autonomously to an agreed level and in the best interests of the Academy

Forging positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to benefit the Academy

Being visible to all internal and external stakeholders and supporting key staff when liaising with parents at critical moments

Championing all Club and Academy policy through ensuring best practice in areas such as safeguarding, health and safety and equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the coaching department

Living the values of the Club and championing our culture to help deliver the Academy performance plan and ultimately the vision of the Academy and the Club

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Championing innovative and emerging best practice through accessing internal and external sources of expertise to help contribute to ongoing personal development and the overall Academy programme

Engaging in the Academy staff development programme and attending all CPD events

Participating in all external CPD to ensure compliance with PL, EFL and NGB standards

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

Undergraduate level in Education, Sports Science, Sports Coaching or similar

Safeguarding children certificate

DBS check with children’s barred list check

FA Level 1 Coaching Award

UK Driving License

Understands the current Academy system and professional football culture and landscape

Possesses an applied knowledge of EPPP standards and working practices

Understands how a long-term, holistic development programme is structured

Understands the function of each facet in a multi-disciplinary team in an Academy

Possesses a demonstrable knowledge of health and safety policy and best practice

Possesses a demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding policy and best practice

Possesses a strong awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion

Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team to support player development
