Mondelēz International and Leeds Announce New Partnership

Sponsorship deal focuses on support for LUFC Foundation and local businesses

Mondelēz International, owner of Cadbury, has today announced a global partnership between Cadbury and Leeds United Football Club, making the UK’s favourite chocolate brand the club’s Official Snacking Partner.

Throughout the partnership, Cadbury are proud to announce there will also be a real focus on supporting local businesses, community projects and charitable campaigns across the current 2020/21 campaign and seasons beyond.

Cadbury is proud to build its relationship with Leeds United Football Club and support the community by donating their sponsorship assets to support those in difficult times, whether it be local businesses or to the Leeds United Foundation to raise awareness, inclusion and support for the clubs worthy causes.

Cadbury have already donated their upcoming pitch side rights to support the Leeds United Foundation, and will be offering other businesses the chance to also enjoy worldwide coverage in the Premier League to support them during this challenging period. This support is expected to be seen by millions of fans across the UK and beyond.

In the coming weeks Cadbury will also be offering lucky organisations the chance to have their own Centenary Square Stone (as pictured with Leeds and England star Kalvin Phillips) which will be installed in the next phase of Centenary Square. Cadbury believes that there is a glass and a half in everyone, so a little generosity can go along way and often a small gesture can have a big impact. Shortly we shall be asking fans to nominate those individuals who have gone above and beyond and deserve recognition in the Centenary Square on behalf of Cadbury.

This partnership brings together two iconic and beloved brands with many similarities, especially with regards to their shared values in bringing people together, creating and sharing moments of happiness as well as celebrating and supporting local communities.

Paul Bell, the Executive Director at Leeds United, said: “Cadbury is widely regarded as one of the beloved brands in the UK and beyond and we are delighted to announce them as our Official Confectionary Partner.

“The partnership is a perfect match; we share similar values with regards to our work in the community and this has already been evidenced by Cadbury offering some of their inventory to support the Leeds United Foundation. We welcome Cadbury to the Leeds United family, and we look forward to working together during this exciting new era for our club in the Premier League.”

Kalvin Phillips, member of the Leeds United first team, added: “As a Leeds lad, the community work the club and the Foundation engage in is always something I take great pride in. Cadbury clearly share our passion for supporting key projects, and having them on board will allow us to keep reaching out to people who need us in our region during these difficult times.”

Colin O’Toole, Associate Director of Marketing of Cadbury Equity added: “We are proud to be working with a club that has such a rich heritage & commitment to the community. We look forward to supporting the club, its committed fans and demonstrating how Cadbury can make a difference by supporting such important local initiatives.”

The first fan-focused initiative of the partnership, running across more than 180 million Cadbury products, will be the Cadbury’s Match and Win promotion, returning for its fourth and biggest ever year. Fans have the chance to win millions of club prizes, including hospitality experiences, match tickets and vouchers, as well as Cadbury prizes.
