Jermaine Beckford Makes Surprise Deliveries To Four Lucky Leeds Fans

Lucky recipients were winners of a competition run by Deliveroo and Leeds United earlier this year

This week, Leeds united legend Jermaine Beckford showed up to the homes of four lucky fans in Leeds with a special delivery ahead of the Championship kick off this Saturday.

Earlier this year, Deliveroo partnered with Leeds United to run a competition where fans could win a shirt signed by each of the first-team players. The four lucky winners were contacted by email earlier this week to say they had won the competition, but had no idea their Deliveroo rider would be accompanied by Leeds legend Jermaine Beckford.

The former striker for Leeds United thanked each winner for their support of the club, making sure to keep socially distanced at all times. The fans were also given a shirt signed by every member of the first-team, including team captain Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Luke Ayling.

One of the competition winners, Chelsey said “When I opened the door I was so shocked to see Jermaine standing there, it was completely unexpected! My boyfriend is a HUGE Leeds fan so I had to bring him to the door too, we were both shaking like mad and couldn’t stop smiling!

“My winning order was actually things from the CO-OP, which has been a massive help to us throughout lockdown due to us not being able to get out and delivery slots being so limited elsewhere! Deliveroo has really helped with that.

“We love football in this house so the Championship returning means we will get the joy (let’s face it, some disappointment too) that football brings, it will also be so nice to have that bit of normality back in our lives during these times."

Paul Bell, Executive Director at Leeds United, said: “Ever since we entered into a partnership with Deliveroo we have enjoyed a great relationship and produced some engaging content For the fans, from the Helder Costa signing announcement to the Ask series which has exceeded 1.5 million views during the lockdown period so far. When we looked to send out the signed shirts won by Deliveroo competition winners we knew we needed to come up with a fun way of doing so, and what better way than sending a modern day Leeds United legend in the form of Jermaine.”

Last year, Leeds United Football Club announced a new and extended partnership agreement with Deliveroo, as they became the club’s official training kit partner for the 2019/20 season. The on-going partnership with Leeds United was Deliveroo’s first sponsorship within the football industry, and saw the Deliveroo logo featured on all first-team player and coaching staff training wear throughout the campaign.
