Supporters get unique opportunity.
Seven junior Leeds United fans were given a unique experience, as they took to the Elland Road pitch to recreate January’s Goal of the Month, in association with the club’s official energy partner, Utilita.
United supporters were given the opportunity to have their say on the Utilita Goal of the Month by choosing their favourite strike from a shortlisted selection, with club legend Eddie Gray holding the deciding vote.
Gray selected Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s strike against Millwall as the winner.
The seven lucky winners, who cast their vote through the official Leeds United website, joined Eddie, Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom and Lucas the Kop Kat on the pitch to recreate Lasogga’s effort.
The junior supporters who had the opportunity to recreate Pierre’s strike were Ryan Cockcroft, Daniel Davy, Finley Grattan, Theo Jagger, Vinnie Kessler, Vinny Knaggs and Oscar Wood.
Utilita, a leading alternative to the Big Six energy companies, is the main sponsor of the club’s junior kit and has pledged to donate £2 to the Leeds United Foundation for every kid’s shirt sold, to fund community programmes and support the city’s grassroots clubs.
Speaking about the competition, Jem Maidment, Director of Marketing and Communications at Utilita Energy said: “As the main sponsor of the club’s junior kit and a supporter of the Leeds United Foundation, we are thrilled to be playing an active role in developing the next generation of the club’s players and supporters.
“Giving these fans the opportunity to score a goal on the famous Elland Road pitch – a dream for young supporters everywhere – was a real buzz and we can’t wait to do it all again next month.”
