U21s Preview: Leeds United vs Nottingham Forest
Play-off final at Elland Road.
Leeds United Under-21s are in action at Elland Road on Monday evening (7pm), facing Nottingham Forest Under-21s in the crucial Premier League 2 Division 2 Play-Off Final.
The winners of the final will be promoted to Premier League 2 Division 1.
The Whites missed out on promotion to Division 1 on the final day of the Division 2 season. Just a point was needed away at West Brom, but following defeat, Southampton were crowned champions and claimed the title on goal-difference, by just two goals.
That meant a play-off tie at home to Aston Villa was next up. Despite going behind to the visitors in the first half, Leeds hit back with goals from Mateo Joseph and Sonny Perkins to progress into Monday’s final.

On their own route to this final, Nottingham Forest Under-21s defeated West Bromwich Albion Under-21s. A comprehensive three-goal win came after goals from Ateef Konate, Ryan Hammond and Detlef Esapa Osong.
After a tough start to the season, Forest had a battle to make the play-offs but did so well, securing wins in their final six matches, finishing four points above fourth placed WBA. The East Midlands outfit were also in contention for automatic promotion in the final stages of the campaign.
Paco Gallardo’s have won one and lost one against their upcoming visitors this season, with a 1-0 defeat away from home and a 5-1 win at Thorp Arch in two very different matches.
As always, another hard-fought battle is expected in the final between the two teams. A large number of tickets have been sold, to offer an excellent backing for each side at Elland Road. Ticket information for fans wishing to attend is below.
