Mateo Joseph: The fans will play a big part on Monday

Under-21s captain looks ahead to Monday's play-off final.

Leeds United Under-21s have reached the Premier League 2 Division 2 play-off final, which takes place at Elland Road on Monday 15th May, 7pm kick-off.

Mateo Joseph has scored 16 Premier League 2 goals for the side so far this season, which has fired them into promotion contention, looking to return to Division 1.

After overcoming Aston Villa Under-21s in the semi-final, the Whites now face Nottingham Forest Under-21s. With thousands of fans already securing tickets for the match, Joseph can’t wait for it to get underway.

He said: “I think it is the most important game of the season for us.

“We are all looking forward to it after the good win against Aston Villa. They were a tough team to face and the fans played a big part in it.

“It was a really good win, we were really happy and now we look forward to facing Nottingham Forest.”

Joseph was quick to praise the fans - who have supported the team both home and away in their numbers all season - stating that the support from the stands helps the team in big matches.

“They’ve been great,” the captain stated, on the Leeds United fanbase.

“I think I haven’t seen better fans than Leeds in all my small career.

“They give you that extra energy you need, especially in the last minutes of the game.

“The other day against Villa we needed to stay calm and they gave us the energy we needed to achieve the objective. I think the fans will play a big part on Monday.”

You can still secure your tickets to come and support Paco Gallardo’s side, as they look to secure promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1 at Elland Road on Monday.
