U21s Preview: Leeds United vs Norwich City

Whites back in Premier League 2 action.

Leeds United’s Under-21s are back in action on Monday afternoon (1pm), when they will host Norwich City at Thorp Arch in Premier League 2 Division 2 action.

The Whites will play their first home match of the campaign after starting with a win away from home on the opening day, hitting five past Derby County at Pride Park to seal the three points.

Norwich come into the match having had an entertaining first match of the season as well, which saw them take three points. Despite going 2-0 down early on at home to Sunderland, the Canaries battled back to win the game 3-2, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes.

Two strikers to keep an eye out for in the match and in some fine form are Mateo Joseph for Leeds, and Tom Dickson-Peters for Norwich. Joseph found the net four times against Derby, whilst Dickson-Peters scored a much-needed brace for his side last time out.

New Under-21s head coach Michael Skubala said he was pleased with the way his side played in his first competitive match in the dugout since joining the club in the summer, but there is still plenty to work on going into Monday’s encounter.

Former Wales international Alan Neilson is in charge of the Under-21s for the East Anglian outfit. Formerly a defender in his career, Neilson amassed over 200 professional appearances in the game before retiring and moving into coaching from 2007.

The teams currently sit 3rd and 4th in the league standings at this early point in the season. Southampton are the league leaders after winning both of their opening games.
