Mark Jackson’s side earned a hard-fought point at home to Everton in this Premier League 2 Division One clash. Both teams exchanged attacks with one another, but couldn't get through two impressive defences on the day.

The sides came into the match looking for season firsts. The Whites hadn’t won on home turf yet this campaign and the Blues hadn’t won away from home. 

Under the lights of York City’s LNER Community Stadum, Leeds were on the front foot from the kick-off, but didn’t create a clear cut chance. The closest effort inside the opening moments was a Charlie Allen header which went wide. 

Down the other end, the central defensive pairing of Jeremiah Mullen and Kris Moore were in fine form to deny the visitors an opener, on two clear-cut occasions. Chances for Rhys Hughes and Charlie Whitaker were both cleared off the line.  

The front three of Sam Greenwood, Sean McGurk and Max Dean were busy throughout, looking to create opportunities. The trio all had efforts on goal but none of them troubled Harry Tryer much in the Everton goal. 

Between the posts for Leeds though, Dani van den Heuvel had to be alert and he denied the lively looking Hughes for Everton, as he struck low on goal.  

Prior to the whistle going for the interval, there was a booking for each side. Harvey Sutcliffe was cautioned for Leeds, whilst Tom Cannon was shown yellow for the visitors for a foul on Greenwood, which the captain curled over the crossbar. 

HALF TIME: Leeds United 0-0 Everton 

Jackson made a triple change during the break. Stuart McKinstry, Archie Gray and Nohan Kenneh came on in place of Moore, Greenwood and Lewis Bate. 

The second half began with McGurk have two shots on goal, forcing Tryer to make two saves inside the opening minutes. The winger created space both times and was denied by the Everton stopper. 

The Toffees made two changes of their own as they looked to inject energy into their second half display and they had the best chance of the half, just after the hour mark. Isaac Price raced through one on one, but Van den Heuvel produced another top save to keep the score level. 

Both teams continued to pus as the game edged ever close to its conclusion. Set-pieces tended to be the main outcome of attacks and balls into the box tested both defences, who in general, stood firm to deny one another. 

Both Allen and Dean had efforts inside the final 10 minutes for Leeds, but neither troubled the Everton goal and the match ended goalless, with a point going to each side.
