Leeds United make a return to the EFL Trophy for the first time since the 2009/10 season, following an invitation to enter an U21s side.

With trips to Blackpool and Barrow also awaiting in the group stage, the Academy side begin their run in the competition with a trip to the Wham Stadium to face League One's Accrington Stanley.

Kicking off at 7pm tonight, the EFL Trophy entry comes about after the Academy was awarded category 1 status over the summer.

LEEDS UNITED U21 TEAM NEWS

With eligibility rules meaning that a minimum of six players must have played at Under 21 level, coach Mark Jackson is expected to rely on his U18s side.

Charlie Allen could be in line to make his first competitive start for the Whites tonight after joining from Linfield in the summer.

A number of players who featured in last season's FA Youth Cup run are also expected to play a part, including Cooper Skerry, Owen Bray and Josh Galloway who faced Manchester United at Old Trafford in February.

ACCRINGTON STANLEY TEAM NEWS

John Coleman's Accrington Stanley will be hoping to go further than last season's quarter-final exit at the hands of Salford.

The Reds kicked off their 2020/21 campaign on Friday in the Carabao Cup, but despite taking a strong Burton Albion side all the way to penalties, could only convert 2 to the Brewers' 4.

Influential midfielder Joe Pritchard is a doubt after picking up a knock in the defeat to Burton, but can call upon recent arrivals Matt Butcher, Mo Sangare and Tariq Uwakwe.
