An Aiden Marsh penalty denied Leeds United all three points in the Professional Development League at Oakwell Training Ground after substitute Bobby Kamwa had opened the scoring in the second half.

The home side had early opportunities through free-kicks on either wing, but Elia Caprile and Oliver Casey ensured they came to nothing.

The hosts then won another set-piece, just over 30 yards from goal, but Danny Pinillos couldn’t find the target with his strike.

Barnsley continued to pressure, next Tommy Willard teed up Jasper Moon, but he was unable to keep his attempt down.

Leeds’ first chance came in the 27th minute.  Mateusz Bogusz stole possession high up the pitch and unselfishly found Tyler Roberts, but he was crowded out and saw his shot blocked.

Two minutes later, the Tykes had a fine chance to go in front.  Former Leeds midfielder Alex Wollerton delivered a ball into the box and Mads Anderson’s diving header went just inches over.

Half time: Barnsley 0-0 Leeds United

Leeds almost took the lead three minutes into the second half.  Barry Douglas played a corner short before getting the ball back and delivered a really dangerous cross which flicked off Leif Davis and only a fine stop by Corey Addai kept Barnsley level.

Bogusz was next to go close when he unleashed a strike from the edge of the box, but once more, Addai was on hand to deny the Whites.

Leeds took the lead in the 67th minute.  The Whites produced a superb counter attack and Ian Poveda got to the byline, before teeing up substitute Kamwa who smashed home.

The United lead lasted just 11 minutes though,  Elia Caprile miscontrolled a Bryce Hosannah back-pass and tripped Angus Chapman, with Barnsley awarded a penalty. Marsh stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, finding the top corner.

Leeds almost regained the lead immediately when Leif Davis whipped in a dangerous cross, which Jamie Shackleton was just inches away from getting on the end of.

In the closing stages Bogusz had an opportunity from a well worked corner blocked, as the Whites had to settle for a point.
