Under-11s become back-to-back champions

Academy team win National Futsal Finals.

Leeds United Under-11s became the National Champions at the Futsal Finals on Sunday afternoon for a consecutive year.

The tournament was hosted by the Premier League across the weekend at St George's Park, with a number of other teams from around the country involved, including Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and Swansea City.

The Academy youngsters beat the Everton Under-11 team 4-0 in the final after securing victory over Chelsea in the semi-finals.

The format of the tournament allows players to develop their confidence on the ball, and their decision-making skills and improve their ball retention. Players are also able to experience a competitive tournament in an enjoyable environment which focuses on enhancing the player's love of the game.

The Under-11s were accompanied by a number of Academy staff at the tournament, including Andy Wood who is the Lead Foundation Phase Coach at Thorp Arch. Andy and his team also led the team to glory last season in the Under-10s final and the regional tournament.

Congratulations to all of the players involved over the weekend - they have been commended not only on becoming champions and for the quality of football they played but also for their impeccable behaviour throughout the tournament.
