Leeds United's Under-23s were handed a first defeat of the season as Hull City came from behind, following Oliver Casey's opener.

Leeds started the game fast and Jack Clarke won an early corner after some trickery on the left wing. Mateusz Bogusz whipped in a low cross from the set piece and Casey prodded the ball home to give Leeds an early lead.

Shortly after, Leif Davis got to the byline and pulled the ball back for Stuart McKinstry who unleashed a powerful strike but his shot was blocked and went out for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Luke Ayling got on the end of Bogusz’s cross but his header went inches wide.

Midway through the first half, Clarke picked up the ball on the wing and expertly beat his man, he then cut inside but his effort was wayward, finding only the side netting.

Hull hit back in the 24th minute with their first chance, Keane Lewis-Potter dispossessed Dane Burlace and calmly slotted the ball past Kamil Miazek to level the game up.

Another Leeds chance fell to Clarke, as he got the better of Robbie McKenzie and cut inside on his right foot but Will Mannion in the Hull net was up to the task.

Five minutes before half time, Danny Lupano rose above his man from a free-kick and almost got the Tigers ahead but his header fell just wide of the post.

Half Time: Hull City 1-1 Leeds United

After a quiet first 10 minutes of the second period, Hull took the lead following a great pull back from the byline by Lewis-Potter, which Norbert Balogh slotted home.

Leeds looked for an equaliser as Leif Davis picked up the ball on the left wing and his cross found Ryan Edmondson but his volley was off target.

Kun Temenuzhkov was brought on with 15 minutes to go and was straight into the action as he cut the ball back for Liam McCarron, but the winger’s effort was blocked.

Bogusz then whipped in a corner and Hull cleared only as far as Clarke who hit a sensational volley from outside the box, but Will Mannion made a fantastic save to keep the home side in front..

In the closing stages, Bogusz was involved again as he crossed for Edmondson, but he couldn’t keep his header down and it sailed over the crossbar.

With seconds left on the clock in stoppage time, Leeds threw everyone forward for a corner but Hull stayed resolute and held on to inflict Leeds’ first defeat of the season.
